Martyn Booth Guitars celebrate Concorde's 40th Anniversary flight

To mark the 40th anniversary test flight of the world’s most revolutionary turbo-powered, supersonic passenger aircraft Concorde, Martyn Booth Guitars have produced a totally unique, hand built, solid bodied electric guitar.

After a ‘glamour photo-shoot’ with the aircraft itself, at Brooklands Museum in Surrey, the Martyn Booth British Icon Series Concorde went on display at Guitar Junction in Worthing and is now available For Sale direct from our website.

The British Icon Series celebrates British design, craftsmanship, inventiveness and spirit and, as a follow up to the wonderful Martyn Booth tribute to the Supermarine Spitfire,  ‘Concorde’ exquisitely captures the essence of this amazing achievement between British and French engineers.

Like the original aircraft, this beautiful hand built, double cutaway guitar is finished in Concorde white, beneath which, the exotic tone wood construction supports an aesthetically fabulous guitar, with Brazilian mahogany the chosen tone wood for the neck and body, the latter being capped with maple.

A symbolic hand-cut mother of pearl  Concorde image is inlaid within the ebony faced headstock, while the same silky smooth tone wood is the choice for the fretboard, housing 22 Dunlop size 6150 frets honed to perfection. The side position markers are red roundels with white inserts, and the body outline is trimmed with hand painted red and blue pin stripes, while raised crossed flags on the lower body represent the aircraft’s manufacturing contributions from the French Aerospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation.

The colour scheme continues with both the Seymour Duncan Jazz humbucker in the neck position and JB unit at the bridge, custom finished with matching blue and red coils. For sonic versatility, each pickup features coil-tapping facilities via the push-push tone control, selectable via a three-way toggle switch.  Concorde is also fitted with a Hipshot vibrato system and Sperzel machine heads with pearloid buttons. Accessories include a Martyn Booth logo’d premium leather strap and Hiscox case.

To mark the start of a collaboration with British designed Fusion gig bags, the Concorde package includes a Fusion F1 limited edition gig bag and two backpacks, all constructed from sturdy hard wearing Jacquard water resistant Ripstop material, finished in a patriotic blue with Union Jack décor. Internally, lush velvet, 30mm high density foam and padded shell areas, protect the instrument’s headstock, bridge and end pin.

All Martyn Booth handcrafted Classic and Signatures are now offered with a “Martyn Booth” log’d Fusion F1 gigbag as an alternative to the standard hardcase at no extra cost.  The F1 will also be available for all other Martyn Booth models for a small supplement.
The Fusion F1 also includes the company’s innovative Fuse-On system, a separate range of detachable accessory bags designed to fit quickly and easily to the Fusion ‘mother’ bag, providing ample room to carry and protect pedals, leads, lap tops, MP3 players, mobile phones and office work stations, whilst offering more flexibility, choice and freedom when travelling on public transport.
